About me and FAQs

Who I am

My name is Emeli, and I am the owner and sole operator of Recycle This Too. I have been secondhand shopping and going to flea markets with my family for as long as I can remember.

My family also taught me the value of nature. I wasn’t afraid of bugs, or snakes like most kids. I liked to picnic in the park and go swimming in the lakes and ponds in my area.

All of my items are pre-loved, gently used, and high quality with plenty of life left in them. I also use damaged or stained clothing to make something new.

With my services, I am able to provide you with a personal shopping and styling experience for your wardrobe using only secondhand clothing!

Why I do it

I am painfully aware of the waste that is produced today. I can’t do it all perfectly, nobody can. But I can do everything in my power to try and make a difference and keep a percentage of products that still have use, out of landfills.

There are currently enough clothes to clothe the next six generations. Over consumption and trend following is littering our planet and taking over living spaces, farmland and wildlife habitats in forests and oceans.

FAQs

Why is buying secondhand so important?

When buying secondhand, you are recycling it and keeping it out of the environment. Nothing will last forever, you are delaying the inevitable, but you are also allowing it more time to serve it’s purpose.

Where can I buy something new if I can’t find secondhand?

If it can’t be found secondhand and must be bought new, support small local businesses! Bonus points if the product is handmade and made in the USA. It’s not always possible, and that’s okay. There is no sense in stressing yourself out over some Tupperware, for example.

Where should I donate my goods?

My recommendation is always small local thrifting or consignment stores. If you take to a consignment store, the bonus is the possibility for making a few bucks yourself. Supporting local businesses helps improve your local community and economy, and supporting small businesses helps make someone’s dream come true.
